It has long been a dream to open my growing spaces to the public. I wanted to share the enchantment I feel every time I step inside the gates of garden plans that have come to fruition. Summer 2023, with three days notice, I decided to hold my first ‘Open Farm Day’. I spent the next few days prepping, cleaning, weeding, and beautifying walkways, gardens, rose bushes, and the flower house.
Opening day preparations
Once the big day arrived, it was time to get LOADS of flowers to the studio. We moved many cart loads from the cooler to the studio until flower buckets filled every inch of the studio.
Minutes before we opened the doors, as we were taking a few photos, I looked out the window to a downpour. The moment my heart sank was hilariously captured, frozen in time, thanks to our florist for the day, Maci.
I thought the rain had ruined the day. Spoiler alert…it didn’t! While it was a little setback, the day went on without a hitch.
Visitors of all ages
To my amazement, we had a line of people before we even opened. I made many rounds through each of the gardens and did my best to personally thank every person who took time out of their day to show up and support Grow and Bestow Flower House’s first ever ‘Open Farm Day’. I was so busy meeting everyone that I didn’t take any photos. After I shut down for the day, I was inundated with notifications on social media from our visitors who had captured their time with us so beautifully. I absolutely loved seeing our farm through their eyes. I thought it would be a great way to share an overview of the day here on the blog. The following photos were captured by our guests.
I could not have pulled off the day without the help of my mom, and dear friends. My mom helped guide people through each of the five gardens. Vanessa made our beautiful sign, kept vases ready for visitors, took photos throughout the day and was there for anything else that came up.
Maci, was not only the cashier for the day, but our florist as well, and she made every bouquet that left the studio. I thought people would want to make their own, but Maci had a line to the door the entire day and for good reason; her bouquets were stunning!
Biggest ‘Thank You’ to these girls for making our first ‘Open Farm Day’ a success.
